BIRD WATCHING TOUR
Yangon – Moeyongyi Wetland – Kyaikhtiyo - Gulf of Mataban (Mottama) – Yangon
Yangon – Hlawga Wildlife Park – Moeyongyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary
In the morning, we will drive to Hlawga Wildlife Park to do bird watching. Here we will be able to see the rare Pale-capped Pigeon, Racket-tailed Treepie, Red Junglefowl, Green, Blue-tailed and Chestnut-headed Bee-eaters, Green-billed MalkohaLesser Racket-tailed and Greater Racket-tailed Drongos, White-rumped Shama, Black-headed, Black-crested, Red-vented, Red-whiskered, Stripe-throated with red eyes which is only found in south Myanmar and near-endemic Streak-eared Bulbuls, White-crested and Lesser Necklaced Laughingthrushes, Puff-throated and Chestnut-capped Babblers, Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker, Ruby-cheeked, Olive-backed and Purple Sunbirds, some waterbird species such as Oriental Darter, Spot-billed and Lesser Whistling Ducks, Cotton Pygmy Goose, Common Moorhen, White-breasted Waterhen, Red-wattled Lapwing, Little Ringed Plover and others. We can also see wintering bird species such as Osprey, Black-naped Oriole, Spotted Redshank, Painted Stork, Asian Openbill, Black-naped Oriole, Black-winged Cuckooshrike, Oriental Reed, Greenish and Yellow-browed Warblers and Forest Wagtail. Late afternoon, we will drive to Moeyungyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary (two hours drive). In the evening we will do bird watching along the shore of Moeyungyi to see Plaintive Cuckoo, Bluethroat, Striated Grassbird, Thick-billed and Oriental Reed Warblers, Asian Golden Weaver , Pipits, shorebirds and other bird species. Lunch and dinner at local restaurant. Overnight will be at resort in the sanctuary.

Moeyungyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary – Kyaikhto
After breakfast, boat rides on Moeyongyi Lake to see hundreds of Purple Swanphen, Pheasant-tailed and Bronz-winged Jacanas, Lesser Whistling Duck, Gadwall, Garganey and Northern Pintail together with Watercock, Oriental Pratincole, Grey Heron, Cinnamon Bittern, Asian Openbill, Woolly-necked and Painted Storks, Glossy and Black-headed Ibises, Greater Spotted Eagle, Harriers, Black Kite, Black-browed Reed Warblers and many other bird species. After lunch we will drive to the Kyaikhto . Dinner and accommodation at hotel in Kyaikhto.

Kyaikhto – Gulf of Mataban (Mottama)
Breakfast at hotel. We will do bird watching the whole three days at the mouth of Sittaung River in Gulf of Mottama (formerly Martaban). We already counted a flock of 39 wintering Spoon-billed Sandpipers at one site of the mouth of Sittaung in January 2008. Here we can see not only wintering Spoon-billed Sandpiper but also other shorebirds such as Black-tailed Godwit, Whimbrel, Eurasian Curlew, Common Redshank, Marsh Sandpiper, Common Greenshank, Wood Sandpiper, Terek Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, Ruddy Turnstone, Sanderling, Red-necked Stint, Long-toed Stint, Curlew Sandpiper, Broad-billed Sandpiper, Pacific Golden Plover, Grey Plover, Little Ringed Plover, Kentish Plover, Lesser Sand Plover and Greater Sand Plover; Gulls, Terns and rare Painted Stork. Overnight will be on boat or sand bank with tents. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner is included.

Day 6 Kyaikhto – Yangon
Enjoy your breakfast. We will drive back from Kyaikhto to Yangon and transfer to your hotel…
Notes :
The best time to go is during December to March.
The tour does not require a high level of fitness but particularly should be in good general health.
Climate: Usually hot.
Equipment: Recommended gear to bring is sun hat, sun cream, flash light, tent, sleeping bag and raincoat.
