Pyin Oo Lwin Pyin Oo Lwin, (80 km – approx. 2 hours drive) lying 69 kilometers east of the second largest city of Mandalay and at over 1,000 meters above sea-level, enjoys cool and pleasant weather all year round. The flower city is well known for its colonial era-buildings, pine trees, eucalyptus and silver-oak abounding in town. |
The National Kandawgyi Garden The National Kandawgyi Garden was established in 1915 and as later expanded in different eras reaching 177 hectares in 2000 which comprises lake, natural forest, roses and bamboo gardens. Recorded 122 bird species and other mammals can be seen. You can visit the High-Standard Orchid Gardens Where more than 300 indigenous orchid species and hybrid orchids are thriving and being displayed on a grand scale. The Botanical Gardens has three museums. The Fossils Museum houses fossils of mammls, reptiles, and invertebrates, and the Petrified Wood Museum displays fossils of plants, colorful stones, toddy-palm roots, as well as things made from fossils of plants. The Butterfly Museum has various species of butterflies from Nepal, Taiwan, South America, Japan and South East Asia. |
Day excursion from Mandalay Early morning pick-up from hotel in Mandalay and scenic drive to the cool hill station of Pyin Oo Lwin (Maymyo). Visit National Kandawgyi Gardens and Orchid Garden (***Botanist from Forest department will accompany with you while visit in the Orchid Garden). After that, take unique miniature state-coaches, drawn by lively teams of horses and photo-stop around colonial-era buildings. Afternoon visit Peik Chin Myaung Cave, inside a gushing stream twists and turns around the countless images and mini-pagodas that devout Buddhists have created. Transfer back to Mandalay in the late afternoon. |
